Installation Terms & Conditions

Important Information Before Installation

At Sliding Sash Windows UK, we want your installation to run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Proper preparation is essential to avoid delays, additional costs and any issues during installation.

The following information outlines key responsibilities and requirements that must be understood before installation begins. Taking the time to review these details will help ensure everything fits correctly and the process runs without complications.

If you have any questions at any stage, please contact our team and we will be happy to assist.

1. Measurements

Initial quotations are based on the approximate measurements you provide. Before installation, a survey may be carried out to confirm all dimensions.

If any measurements are found to be incorrect, adjustments may be required, and additional charges may apply before production begins.

A responsible person must be present during the survey to confirm all window and door specifications.

2. Access to Your Property

You must provide safe and reasonable access to the areas where installation will take place.

Our team will require:

  • Clear access to the working area
  • Suitable space for equipment
  • Parking space for our vehicle or access to the nearest available parking

Failure to provide adequate access may delay the installation.

3. Planning Permission and Regulations

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that all necessary permissions are in place before installation begins. This may include:

  • Planning permission
  • Building regulations approval
  • Compliance with restrictive covenants

Any associated costs or delays are the responsibility of the customer.

4. Special Requirements

If you have any specific requirements or instructions regarding the installation, these must be clearly communicated in advance.

This allows us to plan accordingly and avoid delays or misunderstandings on the day of installation.

5. Existing Services and Obstructions

Before installation, you may need to remove or relocate existing services, including:

  • Radiators
  • Pipework
  • Electrical wiring
  • Internet or alarm systems
  • Aerial cables

We do not carry out this work and cannot begin installation until these are cleared. Any requirements should be discussed during the survey stage.

6. Delivery and Installation Timelines

We aim to meet all estimated delivery and installation timelines; however, delays can occur due to circumstances beyond our control.

Examples include:

  • Staff illness
  • Supply chain delays
  • Weather conditions

We will inform you as soon as possible of any changes. Sliding Sash Windows UK cannot be held liable for any losses resulting from such delays.

Windows and doors are usually delivered before the installation date. If this is not suitable, it must be discussed in advance.

If our team arrives on the agreed installation date and:

  • The property is inaccessible, or
  • Required preparations have not been completed

We reserve the right to charge a fee equivalent to the survey cost. This also applies in cases of last-minute cancellations.

7. Structural Issues (Lintels)

During the survey, we will check for structural support such as lintels above windows and doors.

If additional structural work is required and identified during installation, this will result in additional costs, which will be discussed with you before proceeding.

8. Asbestos

If asbestos is discovered during installation, all work must stop immediately.

The customer will be responsible for arranging:

  • Testing
  • Removal

This must be carried out by a licensed third-party specialist before installation can continue.

9. Minimising Disruption

We aim to keep disruption to a minimum throughout the installation process.

However, we cannot accept liability for any inconvenience, delays or losses that may occur during the course of the work.

10. Interior Damage

While we take care during installation, some minor disruption to surrounding areas is unavoidable.

This may include:

  • Damage to plaster around window openings
  • Minor damage to paint or wallpaper
  • Impact on decorative features such as cornices

We recommend removing any fragile or valuable items from the work area before installation begins.

We cannot accept responsibility for damage to items left in place.

11. Plastering and Finishing

Our installation service does not include:

  • Plastering
  • Rendering
  • Painting
  • Decorating

If additional finishing work is required, it must be arranged separately by the customer.

In some cases, our surveyor may recommend plastering or rendering instead of trims, but this work is not carried out by us.

12. Removal of Old Windows and Doors

If we remove your existing windows or doors, we cannot guarantee that they will remain in usable condition.

Disposal of old units may incur an additional charge, which should be discussed during the survey.

13. Damage Claims

If you believe any damage has been caused during installation, you must notify us as soon as possible so the matter can be investigated.

14. Blinds and Curtains

We do not remove or reinstall:

  • Blinds
  • Curtains
  • Poles or fittings

These must be removed before installation begins.

15. Right to Refuse Installation

Sliding Sash Windows UK reserves the right to refuse installation if:

  • The working environment is unsafe
  • The property is unsuitable
  • Survey recommendations have not been followed

In such cases, any installation fees paid may be refunded where appropriate.
